Authentic Pedagogy Today

Integrative Performance Task is a form of authentic pedagogy. Integrative Performance Task is prepared by different teachers to collaborate to assess the performance standard required in the subject area. The task must be planned, designed, and implemented properly. An Integrative performance task is a type of assessment that requires individuals to demonstrate their understanding and application of knowledge and skills across multiple domains or subjects. The goal of integrative performance tasks is to assess not only what students know but also how well they can apply their knowledge in practical situations, fostering higher-order thinking skills and preparing them for success in diverse academic and professional settings (Department of Education, 2024).

Applying different concepts from different subjects in one task or output requires careful planning in designing the task. Normally it is a group tasks. The students apply knowledge and skills from different learning areas like Science, English, Filipino and TLE to address a real problem or to prepare task. The tasks must be simulate or directly address real-life situations such as community issues, workplace scenarios, environmental concerns, or social challenges. This assessment is very applicable in research subject. In preparing the project proposal the Practical Research, Media Information Literacy (MIL), Oral Communication and Introduction to the Philosophy of the Human Person Teachers can prepare the tasks. But there is a rubric per subject where there target objective of the tasks based on the skills acquired in their subject The Practical Research may provide the tasks as to prepare main output of the task. Where in the output is the research proposal. The oral communication will cover the grammar, presenting of ideas, and in the defense process. The MIL teacher will be assigned to the PowerPoint presentation to be utilized in the defense. While the Introduction to the Philosophy teacher cover the order of the proposal on how the group prepare the statement of the problem and for the research instrument.

The learners analyze, plan, and create for the output. The students work in groups showing real learning in the process and to be observe also in their output.
