Assessment for Learning MOOC’s Updates

New forms of Assessment

Digital-age assessments have great potential to make learning assessment more authentic and responsive to student's needs. They can provide engaging task, timely feedback, and personalized learning experiences that supports academic growth rather than simply grading the performances. On the other hand, these benefits come with risks, including unequal access to technology or devices, and concerns about data privacy. For digital assessments to be executed properly, they must be designed ethically guided by human judgement complemented by all forms of assessements aligned with the curriculum to ensure effectiveness.

Example of an Innovative, computer-mediated assessment

Virtual Simulation-Based Assessment - a virtual simulation-based assessment uses technology like computer or web-based applications to provide learners with realistic and interactive sceanrios where they must make decisions and perform the tasks given. The application records actions, decisions and outcomes. It is best if applied in distance learning and it measures authentic and competencies aligned in curriculum. However, it requires strong ICT and reliable devices. Resources may cost high and learners with low ICT skills will not be engaged in this assessment.
