Assessment for Learning MOOC’s Updates
Assessing Learning in the Digital Age
An innovative form of assessment increasingly used in Philippine schools is computer-mediated assessments, particularly online quizzes and gamified learning platforms such as Kahoot!, Wayground (formerly Quizizz), and Google Forms-based adaptive quizzes. These tools allow teachers to create interactive, timed, or self-paced assessments where students answer multiple-choice, matching, short-answer, or even open-ended questions online. Unlike traditional paper tests, these assessments integrate technology, provide immediate feedback, and often include gamification elements—points, badges, leaderboards—to enhance engagement.
In the Philippine educational system, computer-mediated assessments have become particularly relevant due to the shift to blended and remote learning brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. DepEd’s use of digital platforms, such as the Learning Resources Portal (LRP) and integration with mobile-based apps, has enabled teachers across urban and rural areas to reach students with varying schedules and connectivity. For example, a Grade 9 English or Math teacher can assign a Kahoot! quiz on grammar or algebra problems, track real-time student performance, and adjust lessons based on the aggregated results. This type of assessment not only tests content knowledge but also encourages students to learn independently, respond under time constraints, and develop digital literacy skills critical in the 21st century.

This is absolutely true. Very useful and engaging for students. Thank you for sharing.
