Indeed
The Assessment for Learning MOOC became helpful to me as a teacher because it changed the way I look at assessment—not just as a tool to measure learning, but as a process that actively supports it. Before taking the course, I often focused on quizzes, tests, and grades because that was what I was used to. But through the MOOC, I experienced how feedback, self-assessment, and ongoing checking for understanding can actually guide students and make them more aware of their own progress. I tried applying some of the strategies in my class, like giving students simple reflection prompts after a lesson or letting them co-create success criteria. I noticed that they became more engaged and confident because they understood what they were aiming for. The MOOC also helped me reflect on my own teaching habits—I became more intentional about asking questions that reveal students’ thinking rather than just confirming correct answers. Overall, the course didn’t just give me theories; it gave me practical tools that made my classroom feel more collaborative, supportive, and focused on growth.
