Students can get a visual depiction of the relationships between the various topics that they have learnt using concept maps. In order to illustrate the connections that exist between these ideas, I've included links that are both directional and named. After being presented with new information, students can be given concept maps as an excellent tool that can offer teachers with a formative assessment of the learning that has taken place as well as any misunderstandings that have arisen. An example of this would be the instructor posting a partially completed concept map and asking students to fill in the blanks so that they can develop a full map, which they would then turn in to the instructor either in person or via an online drop box.
