Essential Update #1
What is the role of the teacher in the behaviorist scheme?
The teacher can use behaviorism by modifying the learning environment to reinforce the desired outcomes. Using the class displays to remind the learners about the desired behaviors, outcomes, and goals to be achieved. Arranging the class seating plan in a way that limits distractions and helps the learners to stay focused on tasks and be able to work as teams when required.
The teacher can create a reward system comprised of gifts, certificates, and at times verbal compliments and gestures. Displaying the names of students that achieved a goal and those who showed improvement The teacher can also focus the attention of the learners to feelings that they have when they achieve a goal. This will help the learners to develop an intrinsic drive to achieve the desired behaviors and outcomes.
