Self-regulated Learning as Acquiring Information

Self regulated learning is a process in which an individual sets a goal, that in able to achieve that goal is to plan, monitor, organize, evaluate, adapt, adjust and apply their own learning strategy.

Importance of Self Regulated Learning

According to the study of Zimmerman (1986) "Self Regulated Learning and Academic Acievement", He conceptualize that the student has emerged as metacognitively, motivationally and behaviorally active participants in their own learning.

In terms of Metacognitive process, learners plan, set goals, organize, self-monitor and self-evaluate their own learning in what way theiy should acquire knowledge. In terms of Motivational process, learners report high self-efficacy, self-attributions and intrinsic task interest. In terms of Behavioral create a conducive learning environment.

Zimmerman (1986) emphasizes that self regulated learning should be distuinguish between self-regulation process and strategies. He stated that Self regulated learning strategy refers to the action and process as acquiring information or skills that involves purpose and perception of the learners.
