Formative assessment
Formative assessment is an instructional process in which teachers provide feedback throughout a course or unit, so that students can improve their understanding of the material and apply it to their work. This type of assessment generally consists of mini-quizzes, observations, tasks, or peer and self-assessments. The feedback provided in formative assessment occurs in real-time and on an ongoing basis, allowing teachers and students to identify weaknesses early on and modify the curriculum accordingly. Formative assessment also encourages active learning and student engagement due to its interactive nature. Moreover, it allows the teacher to quickly identify the needs of individual students and provide the right level of support
