Positive and Negative Points of Standardized Assessment
Standardized tests are mainly used to measure the amount of level gained from the learning process. They are at their best when they are used appropriately as one of several assessment tools to evaluate the learning process. On one hand, standardized tests have many strength points. In fact, they help teachers to identify the areas that need improvement. They are actually consistent and makes the comparison either among schools or students easier. They provide a fair comparison with the standards that represent the performance of the system. On the other hand, there are some negative aspects for standardized tests. First, some standardized tests focus on a certain parts of the curriculum. In this case, students might ignore any information or learning opportunities that are not part of the test.
