Program Assessment
Evaluation provides valuable feedback on the program's strategy and implementation. As a result, evaluation is essential in any educational program. It benefits both instructors and students by improving instruction and learning.
The effectiveness of teaching, instructional strategies, methods, and procedures is assessed. It provides feedback on both teachers' and students' instruction and learning.
Courses, curricula, texts, and instructional resources are improved through the application of evaluation. It holds society accountable for meeting the labor market's needs and requirements.
A "program" might be as small as a single class hour, course, or clerkship rotation in medical school or as large as an entire educational program. The "program" could be held in a medical school, a postgraduate school, or as part of continuing education. All of these projects should have rigorous assessment plans.
In the following paragraphs, I'll discuss Kirkpatrick's four-level method, one of the program assessment models.
Kirkpatrick's four-level method is widely used as a paradigm for assessing learner outcomes in training programs. (Kirkpatrick 1996 Citation)
Because this model is focused on program outcomes, it evaluates four levels of program outcomes: learner satisfaction, knowledge, skills, and values.
The Kirkpatrick model, on the other hand, is unlikely to assist instructors in doing a detailed study of their curriculum or to provide information that explains why a program is effective. When combined with another model, such as the logic model, Kirkpatrick's four levels may give a useful way to characterize the program outcomes component of other more complete assessment models.
I believe it is also crucial to include interactive assessment technique, such as incorporating participants in decision-making, action, and reflection while conducting an evaluation study.
