Parse" a standardized test. Or describe the implementation of a standardized test in practice. What are its strengths and weaknesses?
The implementation of standardized test is always being observed in each strategic plan of an educator. We all know that the standardized test is any form of test that that needs to be answer by a student. In order to ensure the learning outcome of the learners this has to be done.
What are its strengths and weaknesses?
Standardized test has a good impact on student achievement. It is also a reliable and objective measurement of academic achievement.I could say that the disadvantages of the Standardized testing is that it is predictable.
The learners who are indeed aware of patterns can determine what the answers to a standardized test could be by only knowing a handful of answers with certainty. The test also assume that all students start from the same point of understanding.
I agree, that standardized tests are a way to get objective measurement of academic achievement. The student, however, has a distinctly subjective perspective on the objective test. I've seen a number of well designed knowledge tests, and many that were not really made to prevent reward hacking (e.g. through rote-learning, inference of recurrent patterns in previous tests, etc.). Depending on the circumstances creating a good test amounts, thus, to a lot of work.
