WAIS Test
The Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS) is a widely used intelligence test that measures various aspects of intelligence, including verbal comprehension, perceptual reasoning, working memory, and processing speed. Subtests assess different cognitive abilities, combining the scores to provide an overall IQ score. The WAIS has well-established reliability and validity and is consistent in its measurement of intelligence. This test is also standardized, which enables comparison between those who take the test. WAIS provides information for a variety of purposes, from educational to occupational.
This test has some drawbacks, as it has been criticized for being culturally biased. Some test items are more familiar to certain cultures than others and may not be useful for testing those with various learning differences and cognitive abilities. Therefore, this testing garners the criticism that intelligence testing leads to a limiting view of intelligence and cognitive abilities.
