Abstract

This qualitative research aims to study and analyze the current situation of education management in Chinese technical colleges and to analyze the effect of education management in cultivating students to become professionals in China. All data was collected from documentaries and fieldwork, using tools including in-depth interviews, questionnaires, and observation. The population and sample group were purposively selected to include Chinese professionals, college deans, heads of department, teachers, and student representatives. Results from questionnaires, interviews, and observation indicated that in three schools across Henan province, the teachers do not have uniform professional training. Moreover, there are differences in course design, professional design, and salaries for teachers, as well as in teaching spaces and resources. The external factors influencing career progression are high demands for professional quality and high levels of competition. Internally, the quality of teachers, curriculum design, teaching facilities, and student ability all play an important role. It is recommended that vocational and technical colleges develop management of these factors according to the 5M theory of management (man, materials, machine, method, money) to improve career progression opportunities for graduating students.
