Abstract

The occupants of a green building hold valuable experiential information and knowledge about the building’s performance, which can be explored to enhance energy performance. A post-occupancy evaluation based on the survey framework Workplace Survey on Occupant Perception, Satisfaction, and Adaptive Behavior was attempted in this study. Occupants of five offices—top-certified green buildings—were surveyed. The study was executed in four stages: (1) review of the documents; (2) site visits, visual inspections, and monitoring of Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) conditions; (3) building occupants’ survey; and (4) analysis. Analysis of the feedback of each parametric section revealed the link between the satisfaction scores, discomfort conditions, and linked adaptive behavior of the building occupants. This article presents the satisfaction scores of each case study building, with the top-three discomforting conditions under environmental conditions and the top-three adaptive behaviors performed by the building occupants. Learning from the building occupants’ feedback from each case forms the core and leads to the conclusion of the study.
