Preface/Postscript to Olly: Race, Class, and Gender in the In ...
Abstract
Originally intended to be a preface, the text has otherwise become a commentary on the book “Olly: Race, Class, and Gender in the Invention of a Rustic Modernity.” Like a personal answer to an invitation, it deals with theoretical issues and offers compliments and criticism on the commented book. While its content is quite original, the subtitle “Race, Class, and Gender” reduces it to a fashionable trend in the social sciences that betrays its actual qualities.
