Modelling and Laboratory Investigation into the Efficacy of a ...
Abstract
We have designed, and tested a prototype for a new clot removal device. This recently patented ‘GP’ clot removal device has the potential to be used in the extraction of blood clots that arise in thromboembolic strokes as well as the removal of blood clots in other areas of the body. Our theorectical modelling has verified the mode of operation of the device, and our in-vitro measurements have revealed useful information concerning flow rates through a range of different sized ‘GP’ clot removal devices.
