Manhattan in a Sentimental Mood
Abstract
“Manhattan in a Sentimental Mood” talks about different kinds of love for towns, songs, and people. It mixes time and space, fiction and reality, and love and friendship in a short story illustrated with drawings from various women who symbolize several forms of strength and perseverance. All of them, in one way or another, have contributed to constitute who I am today. In the images, I chose to present women who are very different from each other to avoid situating the tale in a particular story, using it instead to suggest encounters of souls, bodies, and women who struggle for equality, rights, recognition, love, and so on.
