Abstract

The article discusses the strategies of feminist investing, by focusing on Pax World Funds, a socially responsible and gender lens investment pioneer, which built the first index of the highest-rated companies in the world for advancing women. The authors examine some of the criticisms of ethical funds and discuss gender and pay equity and concerns about sexual harassment in the workplace. The paper also highlights the implications of ignoring social trends, in the context of the #MeToo movement, which can evolve into “Black Swan” events with devastating consequences. By examining various strawmen approaches, and discussing their implications, the authors introduce a model for gender lens investors and map out an action plan for businesses and governments to implement sustainable gender equality reforms in organizations.
