Abstract

Recently, the Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire (MSQ) has become a widely used tool for evaluating employee job satisfaction across various organizational settings. Understanding the factor structure of the MSQ is critical, as it can lead to the development of targeted interventions and strategies aimed at improving employee satisfaction and organizational performance. Despite its global applicability, there is a notable gap in research exploring the dimensions of the MSQ within Vietnam’s educational sector. This study sought to address this gap by examining the factor structure of the eighteen-item MSQ in the Vietnamese context. Data were collected from 297 high school teachers using the Vietnamese version of the MSQ. The original two-factor structure of the MSQ, which included intrinsic satisfaction and extrinsic satisfaction, was proven to be valid by factorial analyses. The findings highlight the applicability of the MSQ in assessing job satisfaction among Vietnamese educators. The study underscores the importance of adopting evidence-based approaches to measure and enhance job satisfaction within Vietnam’s education system. By using the MSQ, school leaders can gain insights into factors influencing teacher satisfaction, ultimately fostering a more motivated and effective workforce. This study provides a foundation for future studies and practical applications of the MSQ in Vietnam’s educational landscape.
