Determinants and Mediators of Organizational Fitness
Abstract
A conceptual framework based on the literature and theory that seeks to explain the predictors and mediators of organizational fitness was formulated. In order to establish these relationships, an empirical study was conducted using public firms listed on the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange. The findings of the study represent an incremental and meaningful contribution to the existing literature on organizational fitness, particularly in a volatile environment. The study also provides practical implications that could assist organizational managers to design organizational structures that will foster organizational learning and develop capabilities that will assist in the alignment of organizations to the operating environment in order to achieve fitness.
