Operant conditioning is about learning through rewards and consequences. It means that you have options based on your behavior, either you will be rewarded or take consequence. If someone does something good and gets praised, he/she is more likely to do it again. For example, a teacher might praise or give credit when a student finishes their homework on time, encouraging them to keep it up.
