Learning, Knowledge and Human Development MOOC’s Updates
Essential Update #1
What is the role of the teacher in the behaviorist scheme?
In the behaviorist scheme, what the teacher does will affect the students’ behaviour and attitude towards learning. The learner is a recipient of the teacher’s information, which is a form of stimulus. Behaviourism is then seen as the means for certain behaviour to be reinforced and repeated by the student.
The teacher will have to understand the students better in terms of what will be a form of positive or negative reinforcement for individual or a group of students - thus, what are their motivations.

Teachers tend to give motivation before presenting a topic to students so they do not be shocked and the preparation of the topic to be discussed. It is also a way to gain students' attention and to have some recaps of their previous lessons.
