Productive struggle in learning
Option #1
Comment: Educational psychology is also concerned with the dynamics of learning. In his contribution to this course, George Reese analyzes by way of example the notion of "productive struggle." How can educational psychology help us to understand the processes of learning?
Educational psychology helps teachers to understand how the learning process undergoes. Not only in the development of the brain but also interacting with social context. When the teacher learns that you need to challenge your students that’s where you get to the zone of learning. Of course, you have to train the brain as you train your body to be stronger. You have to focus on problem-based learning, that is taking them out of their comfort zone and make them struggle not too much but the right amount. Do not tell the students how to get to the answer let them get to the answer but themselves. Students get engaged in trying to be solved. Second, let them learn by doing, they need to experiment, exploring and reasoning to figure it out, failing how they learn. Third, give informative feedback, not just the grade but try to find other ways to grade them in the results of exams. Make a safe environment to encourage them to ask and give feedback to the ones who are really figuring it out,not necessarily whom they have the right answer always. As a teacher it is very important to understand the child pyschology. We have to make our students come out of there comfort zone. We not only have to make them academically strong but also have to make them strong in social context. They have to be taught defining, analysing , interpreting and problem solving techniques. They have to be taught through different technique and tools to solve problem. We have to enable them through assignments, presentations, etc.problem should be lil more than there comfort zone but not out of there reach.
