Social minds... learning to unlearn
What do we mean by the social mind? Social mind is the experience we leave and is kept in our brain. Very far from constructivists and behaviorist; we develop thanks to our interrelations our own learning paths. See the following video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J0XmZW6xYSg
Community shapes our learning acquiring skills in the way we change our performance: internet, people, media, social parties, classrooms, etc. People come together in tragedy and in triumph for example nowdays with the coronavirus pandemia. But in other way, how can we learn new things if we already know many much that doesn't resonate within ourselves? Here is a story about a student who want it to learn even more to become a master and I quote "You can't learn "like this cup your mind is full"? This is a very interisting thing that wasn't brought to us, but if we really think how adults can learn if isn't re-learning?. See the following video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TyMerf4mCIA
How does this expand on learning beyond the individual mind? By sharing our experiences, we are learning. We need, as Wegner, 1998 said, a purpose a meaning to have a significant learning. Isn’t jut a syllabus or the thousands of books you have to read to create knowledge rather is about forming an identity within a specific community. How do we form that knowledge? By being meaningful for the learner. For example, if a child wants to know about a certain topic well, first identify how does he/she learns. As, Gardner mentions there are a lot of intelligence, but it doesn’t mean we have to teach in every single way. Maybe we can identify and gather kids who learn in the same way in groups and be the ones who discover their own learning experience.
Mind learns whatever we leave in our mind .mind learns from experiences. Learning can be from movies, classroom, newspaper, social media. When an adult learns something new his mind does not expand capacity but learns from recent experiences. Eg. if a student wants to learn , we have to find which method leaves a mark in his mind. What is more acceptable to his mind. We cannot use each and every method for a student so we have to identify which method will work for him and alike students.
