Purpose and Process of Educational Evaluation

 

Educational evaluation uses standardized tests to measure students’ academic abilities in various subjects. The results indicate whether students are struggling in all areas or only in certain subjects. This evaluation is usually conducted by an educational or psychological expert with a master’s or doctoral degree, and takes about three to five hours.

Educational evaluation also includes assessing the success of intervention programs, whether in terms of academic, behavioral, emotional, and social (e.g., anti-bullying programs), or overall school system changes (e.g., inclusive education).

Guidance: Evaluation provides teachers with the information they need to provide appropriate guidance to students based on their talents, interests, and intelligence.
Classification: Evaluation helps teachers group students based on their intelligence, ability, and interest levels.
Improving the Teaching and Learning Process: Evaluation helps teachers improve the effectiveness of teaching and develop students' personalities.
In short, educational evaluation aims to provide evidence that interventions can improve educational outcomes. The purpose of this evaluation continues to evolve along with the development of educational assessment parameters.
