Update #5: Marzano Evaluation Tools

I wanted to write a post about teacher evaluation. I am so curious what other schools/districts are doing to promote teacher training and learning and the evaluation/analyzation process that accompanies that.

Our district is using the Marzano research tool. We started utilizing this evaluaion method two years ago so we're all still in the learning stages. Last year was a 'practice year' so we could all get used to the requirements. Here are two pictures of the 'domains' we are all evauated in.

This is a two-page model we follow.

As teachers, we select an element from each domain that we would like to be evaluated in. When administrators are evaluating lessons, they are looking for student growth. We started utilizing this new method to track student data and growth measures. Are we as educators an effective component of their learning? How can we improve our practice to be more purposeful.

There are nine strategies for effective instruction. At first, people were reluctant to learn a new evaluation model and tool, but as we progress, it seems to be very spelled out as opposed to older styles of rather subjective tools. The assessment is formative and standards-based grading is more heavily examined.

What other innovative evaluation tools are being used out there? What do you all like/dislike? What aspects help further your practice?
