New Learning MOOC’s Updates
Transformation in Philippine Education System
The Philippine education system is undergoing a multifaceted transformation, led primarily by the transition to the K-12 Enhanced Basic Education Program, which increased the cycle from 10 to 13 years and introduced Senior High School (SHS) with specialized tracks (Academic, TVL, etc.) to improve graduate employability and college readiness. Concurrently, the post-pandemic era has accelerated digitalization, forcing schools to adopt blended learning models, use Learning Management Systems (LMS), and face the stark challenges of the digital divide—namely, unequal access to devices and stable internet connectivity across the archipelago. The most recent evolution is the phased implementation of the MATATAG Curriculum for K-10, which aims to decongest the curriculum and place a stronger emphasis on foundational skills such as literacy, numeracy, and "Makabansa" (patriotism), indicating a continuous effort to improve the quality of learning outcomes and better align education with both local job market demands and global standards.
