Didactic Pedagogy

Didactic pedagogy, which is a teacher-centered approach focused on direct instruction, is still widely used in education today. A good example of this is my co-teacher delivering a lesson on Grade 6 math subject, where clear explanations are necessary for students to understand complex ideas/theories/concept before they can apply it in making their own mathematical prolems. This method particularly effective when teaching foundational knowledge, such as grammar rules in language learning or core scientific principles. It is also useful in time-sensitive instruction. However, didactic pedagogy can feel oudated in settings that require creativity, critical thinking or hand on learning. While didactic teaching remains valuable in certain contexts, it works best when balanced with interactive and student-centered approaches. Education today is shifting toward a more dynamic era. where structured instruction is complemented by activities that encourage enagement, problem solving and real world application.
