Embracing Change: My Journey as a Student and Teacher in Modern Education

As both a student and now a teacher, I have witnessed significant changes in education, particularly in the integration of technology and shifts in teaching methodologies. As a student, education was primarily teacher-centered, with a strong focus on lectures and rote memorization. However, as a teacher, I now see a growing emphasis on student-centered approaches and the integration of technology to foster active learning and critical thinking.

For instance, during my undergraduate years, math lessons often relied heavily on textbooks and repetitive problem-solving. Now, as a teacher pursuing a Master of Arts in Teaching Mathematics, I incorporate interactive tools like GeoGebra or Desmos to help students visualize and manipulate mathematical concepts. This approach not only makes learning more engaging but also allows students to explore and discover solutions independently.

The shift from traditional methods to these innovative strategies has been transformative for me. As a student, I sometimes struggled to see the real-world application of abstract concepts. Now, I strive to bridge that gap for my students by integrating collaborative problem-solving activities and technology-driven resources, ensuring that they not only understand the material but also appreciate its relevance in their lives.
