New Learning MOOC’s Updates

Essential Peer Reviewed Update #4 Turn to Authentic Pedagogy (My own experience)

I started my pedagogical experience in Higher Educational Institution of my hometown last year. So, at the beginning of academic year a prepared curriculum was offered to me and I was expected to follow it. But at the process I realized that curriculum did not correspond the expectation of both participants of educational process students’ and mine. The content of the curriculum was more teacher centered; it was lack of real-world experience topics as well as practical oriented tasks. So Didactic Pedagogy predominated during the lessons.

However, I decided to make some changes to the curriculum during the semester and tried to redesign it together with the students to make it more progressive and to turn to Authentic Pedagogy. We used to discuss the modules the tasks, assessment criteria and many other issues, and I got great feedback from the students. Most of them were enthusiastic to complete the tasks which would be driving force in their future career. Some of the topics were removed from curricular as they were not relevant, while other topics which were closer to the needs and interests of the students were added to the educational program.

So, in the next academic semester the next group of students experienced an updated curricular and I clearly saw the incredible results of students who were truly motivated and engaged to the educational process.
