Promote education as a fundamental right and a key tool for poverty reduction and development
A quote from the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) that were established by the United Nations in 2000 and were in effect until 2015. It is: 'Ensure that, by 2015, children everywhere, boys and girls alike, will be able to complete a full course of primary schooling.'
This quote reflects the global objective of providing universal access to primary education and eliminating gender disparities in education. While the MDGs have been succeeded by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), they played a crucial role in setting the agenda for global development, including education, in the early 21st century. The MDGs aimed to promote education as a fundamental right and a key tool for poverty reduction and development.
Education for all is a must. Leaders and educators all over the world need to respond positively to this advocacy and calling. Let us unite in educating our youth and children the best way we can so that they become a source of hope in the near future. It is books that they need not guns, bombs and ammunition. Stop the war and hate instead educate and help children and the young to learn!
