New Learning MOOC’s Updates
Coping with COVID-19 pandemic
I am a public school Teacher, at the same time a student and a mother of two loving kids. When schools began to close and learners had to leave their campuses. Many lost their jobs. I am fortunate to still have a job, which is teaching Junior High School students. We cannot deny the fact that this pandemic has a suden big impact on our whole life, leisure time and family. What are the changes? from traditional system to a new one. For example, what we are experiencing now is the social distancing policies, before the global crisis many of us were already engaging in a from of social distancing, but not the exact way we are now doing, but the technology provided us our needs in communication. These changes have also affected educational process in formal and informal learning environments like public schools, universities and any education providers. Some employees like me have to work from home while taking care of my children and acting as a home tutor for my grade 1 child which is a big challenge for me, to test my patience, my devotion in teaching. Because of this pandemic, we had required adopting a new learning and teaching strategies. Despite the challenges of this COVID-19 pandemic, this global crisis has also an extraordinary time for teaching and learning. I realized that pandemic taught us how to adapt and adjust in a new normal.
@Julie Ann Taguilid, I agree with you that the pandemic really taught us to adapt to such big change especially in the education sector, but also may I add that technology today is a great gift given to civilization because without it would be a disaster, many children will have to stop their formal learning.
