Abstract
In an uncertain world, the chaos of a single agent within an organizational system can be overcome by creating new organizational structures that rely on “wholistic” models of intelligence, information, and motivation to make organizing forces more “human.” Beginning with a discussion of the relevance of Isaac Asimov’s Three Laws of Robotics and Jacques Lacan’s concept of the real to human and artificial intelligence, this presentation explores R as an entity that maintains ongoing meta-conversation with every actor inside and around every position in a field, movement, organization, and shared future. R is an automatable process of moving the whole forward in the eyes of all present while making sense of all things in full potency and potential. Built around a concept called “Blank Sheet Intelligence(™),” R draws on the positioning theory of Baert 2012 to improve organizational communication flows and turn the chaos of one into the certainty of all. By ensuring certainty is balanced with uncertainty and that the fear/guilt-inducing is balanced with the opportune and grandiose, R takes the paradigm set forth by Granovetter (2005) and resolves tensions in organizations by acknowledging them as the primary site and space of uncertainty. Through case studies of teaching two popular AI models the basics of blank-sheet intelligence, this paper argues for its use in creating an Asimovian schematic for making organizational AI more human and more in touch with the Real. R thus moves outside organizational culture, strategy, and assigned roles to create organizational certainty, exceptionality, and durability.
