Economic Viability of Indigenous People in San Nicolás Tenango de Doria Hidalgo: Metabolismos Rurales de una Comunidad Indígena (Otomies)

Abstract

In the current work, the peasant condition the indigenous people in San Nicolas in Tenango de Doria and the economic viability were evaluated. The results found in the analysis of the money indicated that it was placed into three groups: the CE (Conserved Environment) which was constituted by “acahualt” (land resting), the UE (Used Environment) that was formed by the coffee plantations, and the TE (transformed Environment) which was formed by the “milpa” and the backyard. When analysing the dynamic equilibrium of the community (in economical and ecological exchanges) it was found that families have an average positive balance.
