I am a social cultural anthropologist did my PhD in Anthropology from the University of Calcutta with special focus on Social Gerontology. Since last twenty years I am doing my research and teaching in the field of Social gerontology. I have the experience of research in urban, rural and tribal areas of West Bengal, an eastern Indian State on social gerontology. I have published more than 30 papers on different issues of gerontology both in national and international journal of gerontology and also two books on ageing issues. In connection with my research experience I have chaired session in seminar, conferences, workshops both in national and international conferences ( Australia, Japan, Singapore, Bangladesh,Copenhagen, Brazil, Beijing and also in different European countries) in Gerontology. Even in the 2003 Asia Oceania Conference on Gerontology held at Tokyo I jointly chaired a session and get the opportunity of full travel assistance and waive off registration fees. I have also occupied different prestigious national fellowship programmes in Anthropological Survey of Indiaas Senior Research fellow, Indian Council of Social Science Research as Doctoral Fellow, University Grants Commission as Special Assistance programme Fellow and so on. In the year 2012, I was visiting Post Doctoral fellow in the Oxford Institute of Ageing (OIA),Oxford for two months.Since last 18 years I am working as a faculty in the Calcutta metropolitan Institute of Gerontology (CMIG), the leading Age Care Institution and Post Graduate Study Centre recognized by the University of Calcutta. In connection with my research I have supervised a number of dissertation students in their term projects. Currently I am doing research on Post modern areas of gerontology like social constructionism and culture construct.
