My Name is Denis Nixon Opio, am a male Ugandan aged 32 years. Currently I am an Advanced Field Epidemiology Track Fellow with Uganda Public Health Fellowship Programme, Ministry of Health Uganda. This is a 2 year Post Masters Fellowship programme funded by US CDC and hosted at MoH. As a Fellow, I have led the following projects; Principlal Investigator(PI) of an Evalaution of surveillance system in Kiryandongo Refugee Settlement, April 2017, PI of an Investigation of Mumps outbreak in Watoto Childrens home, Wakiso district, August 2017, a PI of an investigation of suspected Mercury Exposure among Artisanal Gold Miners, Amudat district, Jan 2018, a PI of an investigation of suspected Cholera outbreak in Kyaka II Refugee settlement, Kyegegwa district, March 2018. I have also participated as Co-Investigator in 5 other outbreak investigations in Uganda. Currently, I have designed and submitted for CDC for funding an HIV project titled "Comparision of Exposed Infant Diagnosis data using DHIS2 and Central Public Health Laboratory Databases. I have designed and is implementing a Quality improvement project titled" Improving newborn health outcomes using Birth Weight Age at Death Boxes for Interventions and Evaluation System (BABIES) Matrix. I have also designed TB Operations Research project Titled Predictors of treatment outcome of TB patients age >=8 years enrolled on DOT at PAG HCIV, and also conducted descriptive analysis of MDR TB patients in Uganda. From the above projects, I have made 3 presentations at National Conferences, submitted 2 International Abstracts for AFNET, published 4 Epi bulletins and 1 Newspaper article. I have gratuated with MSc. in Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistic at Makerere University, Jan 2016. Recently in May 2018, I have participated in conducting Immunisation Data Quality Assessment and developed a 5 year Immunization Data Quality Assessment and Improveemnt plan for Uganda. I have also participated in Various National Data Cleaning and DQAs. Before the Fellowship, I had persued MSc. in Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics with Makerere University, Jan 2018. BSc. Hons. in Quantitative Economics, Gulu University, Jan 2008. I had also worked as a District Biostatistician from 2008-2015 with Dokolo district Local Government where I was incharged of District Health Management Information System and Health data management.
