The interesting thing about this weeks update on Educational Data Mining is that I remember my case study research paper talked about Data Mining but the topic was on Intelligent Tutoring Systems. As I was researching this paper, I came across the Watson Intelligent Tutor, and it immediately drew my interest into not only wanting to learn about it but also how would it have an impact in higher education. 

Watson was originally designed to allow college students access to Watson's personalized interactions to develop the enrichment of the digital learning experience. Through Watson’s cognitive capabilities, students will be able to engage with Watson to improve their grasp of course concepts and lead to deeper learning and better performance on testing. Watson will be able to dialogue with the student using natural language to remediate confusion and help the student identify areas of weakness.

So now looking at this from the perspective of student we must also examine the impact this will have on the instructors. Outside of the classroom, Watson will provide the individualized help students need to complement the instructor's efforts. And, instructors can tailor their efforts based on the strengths and weaknesses of their students.
