Task 3 Week 3- Quizalize
The first thing that caught my eye when researching this application were the statistics provided; mainly an 8% reduction in the achievement gap and 25% improvement in exam pass rates for students who have Quizalize integrated into their lessons.
The application is in the form of a quiz, where the student selects the right answer, which is a very encouraging format. During the interactive quiz, the teacher is updated with specified data on student performance, including a real-time statistical report on strengths and weaknesses. At the end of the quiz, each student is rewarded with a score over 3 based on their performance observed throughout the quiz.
This is a great example of differentiated learning. The application allows teachers to provide specific resources, which are made easily accessible, and adjust their lessons according to each students’ individual needs. For instance, some students may prefer visual learning styles whilst others auditory. Student’s learning gaps are easily identified and therefore more focused attention may be given to those in need of it. Once the test is complete, teachers can also provide tailored follow-up exercises in the form of games, which can include interactive links. Such tailor-made quizzes are an example of competence-based learning, where the quiz is made to specifically match the students’ new-mastery levels.
