Dr. Thembani Dube is a Lecturer at the University of the Witwatersrand. She holds a Ph.D in History from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. She also holds a Masters degree in history, a Bachelor of Arts Special Honours in History and a Bachelor of Arts General degree from the University of Zimbabwe. Dr. Dube is also a recipient of Interchangeable Cultural Heritage Fellowship from UNESCO and Mellon Foundation Postgraduate mentoring Programme. She has previously worked at the National Archives of Zimbabwe as a Senior Archivist and Oral Historian. She is a member of the Oral History Association of South Africa (OHASA), Southern African Historical Society (SAHS) and also a member and secretary of the Oral Traditions Association of Zimbabwe (OTAZI). Her research interests include researches on ethnicity, identity, chieftainship, land, inequality, and women’s studies. Her current work focuses on ethnicity and identity amongst marginal communities.
