I completed my MA and MPhil degrees in Sociology from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India. Currently, I am enrolled in the doctoral program in the Sociology department at Rutgers University. I am interested in narratives of India's Partition, anti-Sikh riots of 1984 and South Asian experiences in the US in the aftermath of September 11, 2001. These events have an impact on identity and belonging amongst successive generations of Sikhs in particular and Punjabis and South Asians in general and that is the focus of most of my current research.
I teach courses in Sociology including Contemporary Sociological Theories and Sociology of Women.
