Received my MFA in visual art with a focus on painting. I was awarded a teaching fellowship and was the instructor of record while studying at Radford University. Faculty who I studied with included realist painter Noel Lawson and abstract painter Paul Frets. During my studies I was mentored by Suzi Gablik who heavily influenced my future studio practice. Work with Ray Kass from Virginia Tech included participation in 2 of his Mountain Lake Workshop series. Of particular influence was the workshop with M.C. Richards. I graduated with honors, receiving induction into Phi Kappa Phi and earning a 4.0 G.P.A.
