Dr. Nirupama Prakash is Professor of Sociology & Gender Studies and Director, Amity Institute of Social Sciences, Amity University, India. She was invited as Visiting Professor to teach summer courses on gender, socio-cultural and health issues at the Department of Arts & Humanities, University of Maryland at College Park and Department of Global Gender Studies, University at Buffalo, State University of New York, U.S.A. She served as Consultant on cross-cultural competence at the Office of Diversity & Inclusion, University of Maryland at College Park, USA during June 2010. She was invited as a resource person to the First Meeting of Asian and Spanish Women and as a keynote speaker on Gender and Culture of Peace at the Round Table on ‘Gender Equality and Development” organized by Casa Asia, Barcelona, Spain during October 25-27, 2010. During July, 2011 she presented her work at the Women’s World 2011 Conference, Ottawa, Canada and at the Literature & Translation Conference at Monash University, Melbourne, Australia. Professor Nirupama Prakash has contributed to research at national and international level. She was also nominated by NAM S&T center to participate in International Workshop on "Empowerment of Women Through Science & Technology Interventions", held at Tehran, Iran. In the recent past she was invited by UNESCO, Paris to participate in the Symposium on International Mother Language day. Professor Nirupama Prakash has many research papers to her credit and has been invited to various national & international forums to present papers on social & women issues.
