Jean-Paul Amat is a Letters and Human Sciences PhD from the Sorbonne university in Paris. He is now Professor of biogeography at the Department of Geography and Planning, University of Paris Sorbonne and Director of the joint research unit (UMR) 8185, Space Nature and Culture, CNRS - Universities Paris IV, Paris 8.
He is a Chairman at the Scientific Council of the Biosphere Reserve (MAB-France, Unesco)and co-chaired the National Council of Universities in France. He currently works on Biogeography, environment and development themes. He has written articles and participated in scientific events on seismic risk management, altered forest landscape, in a context of sustainable development.
