I am professor of German who also teaches in the TESL program at St. Cloud State University in St. Cloud, Minnesota. I teach all levels of German to undergraduates and work with TESL MA students in the areas of second language acquisition and pedagogy. This means that I work comparatively on issues of language acquisition in immersion and classroom settings. My teaching and research are shaped by my interests and commitment to issues of social justice and diversity. This has meant a shift to including experience-based learning forms such as service-learning into my work. I am currently co-authorizing an article investigating social justice and self-efficacy as learning outcomes of service learning.
