Dr Helen Owton is a psychologist and completed her PhD in Sport and Health Sciences at the University of Exeter. She is an active researcher and her research specialisms lie in innovative qualitative investigations of sporting embodiment and gendered sporting experiences. Helen is also on the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) and enjoys running, cycling, boxing.
Her research interests include women's boxing, sensory dimensions, maltreatment and safeguarding in sport, athletic identity, professional development in applied sport psychology, athletic mothers, creative methodologies, and chronic illnesses (specifically asthma).
