Teaching and research experience: The Institute of Social Studies at The Hague (1993-1994); The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (1992; 1995-1998); Campbell University (1996-1998); Webster University (Leiden Campus, NL, 1999-2001); Eastern Michigan University (2006-2008); European University of Tirana (1998 - presently). Author of 30 books and more than 50 peer reviewed journal articles. Ambassador of Albania to the Netherlands (1998-2001), and to the United States (2001-2005). Editor of the journal "Sociological Analysis". Academic interests: development, democratic transition and consolidation.
