I am a PhD researcher at Newcastle University currently examining museums dedicated to traditional performing arts in the Iberian Peninsula. I am interested in understanding how these museums are facing the challenges and meeting the needs of safeguarding intangible cultural heritage. I hold a BA in European History and MA in Cultural Management from the University of Puerto Rico, an MA in South Asia Area Studies from SOAS and a Postgraduate Diploma in Intangible Heritage Safeguard and Management from the University of Córdoba, Argentina. I have worked in museums and similar cultural institutions in the UK and in Puerto Rico as researcher and project coordinator focusing on documentation and education. I also taught Humanities courses at Higher Education level. My main research interests are tangible and intangible cultural heritage, traditional performing arts, heritage management, museums, cultural tourism, cultural heritage policy and sustainability, and heritage and identity discourse.
