Hello Friends,

I can't believe it's been over a year since I defended. They say completing a dissertation is hard, completing one in a pandemic is even harder. 

For those in the program, stick with it. It is hard and challenge but will truly prepare you for what's next. You get what you put into it. Mary and Bill will challenge you but it makes you a much better scholar and much better able to be the expert in your field. 

For those who have finished, congrats! Take time to celebrate and look back at what you've accomplished. 

For me, I have reaped rewards that I can only ascribe to completing my degree. In addition to my fultime position as Director of Faculty Development, I also have a 0% appointment as a Teaching Assistant Professor. In addition, I was promoted to Senior Director of Faculty Development. The other piece is I'm much more involved with colleagues around the world. The skills I learned in this program help. 

If I would give one piece of advice, it's to ask for help and feedback. Ask for it early and often. It only given with love to help you grow.
