Learning Design and Leadership EdM alumna, Ivana Uzelac, assumes the role of Director of Academic Technology at Lake Forest College
Ivana Uzelac started a new position as the Director of Academic Technology at Lake Forest College. She shares her transformative journey through the LDL program at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and how it shaped her career trajectory.
She embarked on her journey as an EdTech product manager, leveraging her education background to bridge the gap between technology and learning. Her desire to deepen her understanding of the learning process prompted her to pursue further education, leading her to enroll in the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign’s LDL program.
In the LDL program, Ivana delved into innovative LMS features, engaged in dynamic online discourse, and embraced diverse perspectives from global peers. “This led me to further educate myself and share relevant literature with my colleagues. My research led me to the works of Dr. Cope and Dr. Kalantzis, specifically their books on New Learning and e-Learning Ecologies.”

What advice would you offer to graduate students interested in working in higher education administration?
"For graduate students interested in working in higher education administration, my advice would be to stay curious and open-minded. The field of higher education is constantly evolving, and it’s important to stay updated with the latest trends and developments. Engage in continuous learning and don’t hesitate to explore new areas. Networking is also crucial - connect with peers, faculty, and professionals in the field. Lastly, remember that every experience is a learning opportunity. Embrace challenges and learn from them, as they will contribute to your growth in this field".
