Negotiating Learner Differences MOOC’s Updates
Being a teacher
I have been an English teacher for almost 9 years now. I taught various classes starting from the age of 5 to the age of 40 years old. All of my students were non-native Arabic speakers. If I have to introduce my experience in one sentence, I would say I have had a challenging and transforming experience, and I still do!
Teaching is not an easy task, a teacher has to deal with all types of students with different backgrounds and learning styles. I found that challenging and perhaps motivating simultaneously as I strive each semester to make sure that each of my students reaches the level where they acquired the outcomes of the learning process. At the same time, I want them to be there willingly and it is important that they also like the subject and think of it as an interesting and fun to overcome any obstacles they may face.
This job has broadened my mind in different ways I have never imagined, it taught me to notice the small important details in each one of my students, not to mention, even the people I interact with in my life.
